Tash On: Happiness

In Worx by Claudia Watson

Hey hey, Tash here. Today I’m writing about happiness drawing on my experiences and those of others around me.

Happiness in your life

Pretty much everyone wants to be happy. Who wouldn’t? It makes you feel good inside. For many of us, however, just one person’s actions can take that happiness away.

Why is that? If you think about it, it doesn’t make sense. By letting people take your happiness away you are being dragged into their negativity. Why let this happen? You can totally turn it around simply by showing that person what it is like to be on the other side i.e. you show them the positive side.

By only seeing the negative side that is promulgated by some, we are unnecessarily limiting ourselves. Instead, try to let your mind and soul expand further, allowing you to see more than the negative, sad and bad elements and turn them into happy, positive things that make you smile.

Happiness in the work place

Every company treats their staff differently. Some expect their staff to go above and beyond the call of duty on a daily basis with a smile on their face, yet don’t offer anything exciting at all to reward the staff for the hard work they do.

I’m happy to work for a company that understands the importance of treating their staff well. Here they value what we do and how hard we work and like to reward us for this with little treats that make a big difference. One example of this is our ‘Duvet Days’ where we let our suppliers have a paid day of leave just to chill. Iura was the first to have one and he was as delighted with his day as we are with his work. Next up Ben enjoyed a ‘Family Day’ to spend with his newborn son.

Worx knows the more they reward us for the good that we do, the more we will do as employees for Worx as happiness in the workplace is very important. The key is to reward your staff and encourage them to be happy and be proud of themselves in the work that they do.

Bringing the Happiness home

After a long day at work, you want to go home with a smile on your face. You want to be able to talk about the happy day you had and how great the atmosphere was. Too many of us come back annoyed or angry because of how we’ve been treated by employers. We all need to work towards working for a company that treats us right, one where we look forward to going to work in the morning as much as we look forward to talking about our day when we get home. This is how our work life can make our personal life much more happy and content.

Happiness in others.

Seeing happiness in others makes you feel more alive. Whether you see people walking down the street laughing or someone you know gives you a warm smile, it boosts your day and makes you see things around you in a bright and positive way.
